Awesome Day

Oct 27, 2014

Today was great- I don't know if any of yall have ever used the hair tie trick on your pants but it's when your pants are just a little too snug you loop your hair tie through the button hole and onto the button- gives you the perfect wiggle room! WELL today I DID NOT NEED THE HAIR TIE!!! Extreme victory. I love it when my clothes start fitting better! I'm down about 5 pounds in a week or less- high protein low carb eating and between 1,000-1,500 calories a day and 64oz of water. I am managing my hunger pretty well and making good choices. I still think about pizza often but today I had a Lean Cuisine one and it was YUMMY. I'm also going to try other styles of pizza because...well..I love pizza LOL. There's no reason we can't have things we love- just make it low carb low cal high protein! Anyhow, when I get paid I am treating myself to some Asics Gel Kayano walking shoes and am going to start going on walks! I'm feeling good and determined and I couldn't do it with out you all. My surgery may not be till March but there is no reason I can't try my DAMNDEST on my own!!

Shake Shake Shake

Oct 23, 2014

I haven't been this impressed with a shake in a WHILE! Just tried Chike's Strawberry meal replacement shake with 7oz of almond milk and it is SO good. Just like a strawberry milkshake! I'll definitely be buying more. I liked the coffee one as well but I'd like to try Click's coffees and compare. What are your favorite shakes?

My first NSV

Oct 23, 2014

So I am still pre-op and have not yet had my surgery, however I am having an extreme NSV right now! My surgery date is 4 months out but I have decided to start my commitment to health now because I just CANNOT gain anymore weight..any..more..anyhow..! I have gone from eating 3k+ calories a day to 1.5k and I have been pretty hungry even though I'm trying to eat lots of protein and drink enough water. My husband came home from work and decided to make pancakes and while I stood in the kitchen watching him make pancake after pancake I asked him to hand me an apple and walked out. AN APPLE. I just ate an apple instead of a pancake. This is my first NSV that hopefully turns into some SV's!!! Hehe [:

Every Day is a Struggle

Oct 20, 2014

All I know is that I need to be out of pain more than I need or want to eat ANYTHING. I've started to measure my foods, even if I don't know how many calories it is. A cup of this a half cup of that. I have to start somewhere. I'm about to buy some good walking shoes too. Trying to get more water in as well. Started taking B12 and am searching the house for more vitamins before I go buy more. I am constantly on this site trying to get as much information as I can every day. My surgery is about to be scheduled with ALighterMe in Tijuana with Dr. Ortiz on March 2nd 2015. That means I have about 4.5 months to get myself in order. I can do this.

The Beginning

Oct 11, 2014

I have been a member of OH for a few years now and have been looking into WLS for that time as well. I have read a lot of posts and took a bit of a hiatus from the site while I lived life a little, got married, etc, but I also gained weight. I have always been heavier, since grade school, but I have gotten to the point where it is affecting me physically. My back hurts almost all the time and I get heartburn often. I see things getting worse and I have no room to be in denial anymore. When I was in the 200's I felt like I was just more to love but now I just feel bad too often physically and emotionally. I also want to start a family in the next 5 years and I have to get my health under control first.

I have to get my brain right first and foremost because I know it is 100% my issue. I have insurance that will cover psych visits which I will be continuing soon and I am wanting to go to Over Eater's Anon meetings as well. In order for me to get WLS I have to self pay and will be traveling to Mexico to do it. I have read many success stories and have done a lot of research into the international experience of WLS. I calculated that it will take me approximately 6 months to save for the surgery which I feel is a good window to start making healthier eating choices and get in the right headspace.

For a long time I was decided on the VSG because It seemed like the healthiest way to go about WLS- no malabsorption or risk of dumping- however now I am at a place where I feel a may need the extreme constrictiveness of the RNY. I am trying to think long term however and am very conflicted between the two. I read positive and negative things about both procedures and unfortunately still can't decide. I feel like even though I will be waiting 6 months to get WLS I should set a date and make the deposit ASAP. At this point I feel like I need more input and some guidance in regards to which to go with and really, anything, any opinions, stories, or experiences will be helpful. I almost feel like I need a timeline for the next 6 months- mini goals per month- something that I can use to help stay on track.

Thanks for reading
