Surgery date: Stayed in Burlingame overnight -- pretty smooth sailing -- surgeon came to see me -- then anesthesiologist -- he was wonderful. All I remember was him telling me he was giving me some medicine to sleep and the next thing I knew I was coming to in recovery -- nurses were asking me to wake up. I was hard to stay conscious. I don't really remember much about going upstairs to my room...remember my partner coming in and telling me that everything went great. Remember I was in a semi-private room with very loud neighbors and VERY loud nurses....this was probably the hardest part. The nurses were pretty obnoxious. A few hours later I was told that they were moving me to a private room -- I could walk to it if I wanted. I walked to the bathroom a bit after that (no catheter) -- and then walked over to my private room! I walked the halls again that night and once again at about 1130 -- used my breathing machine a bunch. I did have tons of nausea day two -- might have been the morphine because it pretty much went away after that. Leak test followed by stage 1 liquids and i was on my way home! Day Three: two walks around my cul de sac and on the first day of stage 2 diet. Feeling okay afte nap. Moderate pain...LOTS of gas..
