Almost three years post op

Sep 03, 2009

I can't believe how time flys.  Last month we took my youngest son to college in Wilmington.  It is real quite in the house now.  I miss him so much.  I stopped smoking dec 1 2008 and I have gained about 19 pounds but I am still a success story in terms of my weight loss.  Dr Cooks goal for me was 200 and that is where I am.  I am trying to lose it.  I still have no hunger (yay).  My tool still works as I can not eat much at a time.  Trying to keep myself busy.  As far as my neck.  It still hurts but the surgery was a success as to prevent any further nerve damage.  I also had carpel tunnel surgery on my right hand.  That has been a bitch.  Thanks for coming by

Choking

Dec 15, 2008

Well I had my neck surgery and getting better everyday.  Still have pain but hope it all goes away.

Choking
Well I can tell you this from experience.  I just had cervical neck surgery and everything is swollen in there.  I was choking Thursday nite on a piece of melted cheese. Hubby looked at me and I shook my head no.  I was not coughing or anything. I could not breath  I grabbed my neck and my husband jumped up and did the Heimlich on me.  It took three times before it came flying out.  I have never been so scared in my life.  I knew I was going to die.  He saved my life.  This has really shook me up.  My hubby is my hero.  We were in a restaurant to beat all.  The ambulance was called and everything

Pain in the neck

Dec 02, 2008

Well here I sit and I am in terrible pain.  My neck is really giving me hell.  I am to have Anterior Cervical Discectomy and fusion (4 levels) on Monday Dec 8, 2008.  I can't wait for this pain to be gone. Iam a little nervous but it has to be fixed.  And with 184 pounds lost it should be a little easier on me.
I am doing good with my weight.  I have not gained in two years.  I still have had no hunger and hope it never returns.  I go between 179-182.  I am happy with my loss.  One day I will check into plastics but now the neck is the most important thing.  I do have alot of skin.  But I will take the skin over the fat.

cheers for now

Two years post-op

Nov 19, 2008

Tomorrow will be two years post op.  Can't believe it my how time flys.  I am doing good.  I have been the same weight for about a year now (178-180).  That is a loss of 184 pounds.  It still amazes me it say that.  I make sure I take my vitamins everyday.  I have never missed a day.  I still get my protein in with the help of shakes.  I love my shakes and guess I will drink them the rest of my life.  It is nice to be able to wear something that is pretty.

I have been having pain in my neck for over 3 years now.  I did find out what is wrong.  I have buldging disc and stenosis.  I am in PT now and I do think it is helping.  I guess being SMO has taken a toll on my body.  I am working on my posture to get some of the pressure off my neck.  My life is great now.  I can do as I please and I am a happy girl.  I thank god everyday for allowing me to have this surgery.  I still do not eat much at a time.  My how I love fruit.  I eat it 2-3 times a day.  I still can only eat a very small amount of meat at a time.  I do get full real fast.  I have not been hungry in two years and I am thankful for that (I hope it never returns).  I have never dumped.  I thank you for stopping in to read about me.

Sweet and sour chicken

1 lb boneless chicken cubed
1 c green and red peppers
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 c. soy sauce (lite)
1 can chunk pineapple (sweetned with splenda)
3 tbsp vinegar
3 tbs brown sugar
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp garlic powder

brown chicken untill well browned, add peppers for 1-2 minutes.  Mix cornstarch and soy sauce.  Add to pan, add pineapple and juice, vinegar, sugar, ginger and garlic.  Bring to full boil and then simmer a few minutes.

To make it easier take sissors and cut raw chicken into pieces, right over pan.  Can you say no mess.

I served over rice for the family, they loved it and it really filled me up.

enjoy

I am now down to 179.  That is 184 pounds gone.  Unreal.  I love my new life.  Been having trouble with my neck.  Had MRI done and it is all fucked up.  Now a reason for my headaches.  Had an epidural a couple of weeks ago.  I think it helped a little.  Will probaly have to have surgery on my neck at sometime.  Will treat as long a possible.

GOAL!!!!

Feb 07, 2008

Well I made it to the goal my NUT set for me.  I have now lost 75% of my excess body weight.  I am at 185. That is 178 pounds gone.  Now going to see where this ride takes me.  If I never lose another pound, I am happy and It was worth it all.  I would do it over in a heartbeat.  Still having a little pain in the gut.  This ulcer needs to go away.  I take my vitamins everyday and still get my protein in.

Hose pipe down in pouch!!

Jan 17, 2008

Well for the last month or so I have noticed I needed more protonix for heartburn.  Then a couple of days ago the pain started.  Gee I am getting an ulce I thought.  Well went to see Dr Cook and he did an Endo and there is a small ulcer.  Put me on Nexium.  Damn insurance won't pay for it.  So will have to see what he wants to do now.  I know I got the ulcer from taking Voltern (NSAID) was taking it for shoulder and neck pain.  Now my shoulder and neck are killing me.  Must find something that works.  I have lost 172 pounds and still losing.  I am so looking forward to baseball season.  I am sick of this cold.  I stay freezing all the time.

The Grapefruit is gone!!

Dec 05, 2007

had hernia repair surgery today.  It was the size of a grapefruit.  I am in a little pain but the drugs are easing it a bit.  I am home and on the road to recovery.  My doc put mesh behind the muscle.  Hope it does not come back.  Went in at 1130am and I was home by 530 pm.  So glad I got to come home and not stay overnite.  They told me when " you can walk, talk and tinkle you can go home".  So when I got to recovery I made sure I could do all three.

hug to all

Surgery Again

Nov 26, 2007

I will be having hernia surgery on Dec 5.  The damn thing is huge.  I will be glad to get it fixed.  I now weigh 199.  Hard to believe.

I made it to surgeons goal!!

Nov 07, 2007

Today is Nov 7, 2007.  I have reached my surgeons goal for me of 200.  That is a 163 pound loss.  It took 11 months and 17 days.  Did I even think I would lose 163 pounds with this surgery.  No Way.  I could barely imagine a 100 pound loss.  I am so glad that I had this surgery and now have a more healthier life.  I have done things in the last 11 months, I could not do for many, many years.   I want to thank you, my family for being there for me and loving me.  I could not have made it this far without your support.  I am very happy with what I look and feel like.  I can now wear clothes I only could dream about before.  I can go in any store and buy myself something.  To me that is unimaginable.  Any more weight lose is icing on the cake, or for me a protein drink.     Thanks again as I am doing the happy dance today,   Monica
