6 Months and 60 pounds gone forever

Oct 16, 2008

Today I had my 6 month check up with the Dr. and I am please to report an A+!  All labs are perfect and my weight loss is right on track.  I thought that I was losing slowly, but I was quickly informed that it is a healthy loss.
About a week ago, I experienced two weeks of a constant burning in my stomach, so I called the Dr. and they told me to take Prilosec and after 2 days of it, the burning went away.  Today, I was told that I need to take Prilosec for a month straight and once I'm done, if the burning comes back, I may need to see a specialist to determine if I am getting an ulcer.  If it is an ulcer, they have medicine that heals them from the inside out.
I told the Dr. that I cannot thank him enough; I feel better, have more energy, and look forward to losing the last 50 pounds. This is truly a dream come true!
Lately, I have experience the joys of trying on old big clothes and trying on new smaller clothes, it's so fun!
I want to thank all of my family, friends and coworkers for being so supportive during my journey!  It has been a wonderful experience.
I promise to post pictures soon!

6 Weeks Down!

Jun 04, 2008

So, it has been 6 weeks now and I am finally back to work !  I sure got a taste of home sweet home and it is very hard to be back.
But, I am down 30 pounds and everyone at work can tell, especially in my face and that is the exciting part!   Today I am wearing capri's that were too tight prior to the surgery!   So, it is working!
I am having challenges with breakfast because we MUST eat breakfast and for some strange reason, food does not go down well in the mornings!
I am able to eat most anything except fried foods and things high in carbs (bread, pasta, etc).   Luckily, I am not a sweets craver, so I have not had any issues with dumping on sugars.
I have to remember that it's only been 6 weeks and I think it will get better. I will be posting pictures real soon, so stay tuned!

2 Weeks Post Op!

April 29, 2008
Today is 2 weeks since my surgery and I stepped on the scale this morning to find that I have gained one pound!  My friends and family can tell that my face has gotten thinner :).   I am trying to eat high in protein and I am taking in about 65 ounces of water per day!  Today I used the treadmill for 30 minutes (just about killed me!) and I am hoping that exercise will help me loose faster.  I am looking for anyone who can give me food tips for the first month.......

1 Week Post Op!

Apr 22, 2008

April 22, 2008
Today is my one week anniversary since surgery and I am exited because I can drive myself to the doctor for my one week post op appointment.  I was informed that I am down 16 pounds!!!  I cannot believe it!  I was told that I can transfer to a semi soft diet which will consist of mashed potatoes (which I am enjoying right now), cottage cheese, applesauce, yogurt, and pretty much anything blenderized.   I am doing quite well; however, I am struggling with the fatique.  My doctor said once I start my vitamins and consume more calories, my energy will return!  I sure hope so because I really want to start working out, I'm just too tired to do that right now.  So, on my way home, I stopped by the store and picked up my vitamins and some low fat, low sugar soft foods.  I think I am in heaven!

Hi, My name is Vicki Chapman and I had gastric bypass on 4/15/08.  My surgeons, Dr. Waldrep and Dr. Kerr were awesome and I got to go home on 4/16/08!  On 4/18/08 I had my drain removed because it was bothering me and I am happy to say I am down 7 pounds since my pre op weight!  I am having a difficult time with the clear liquids as I am sick of broth, propel water, cannot tolerate the texture of jello, and popsicles are too cold and hurt going down....So, I am struggling a bit with the clear liquid diet.  Hopefully next week I can move to a semi soft diet. :)
I have to remember...nothing tastes as good as thin WILL feel!!
