I had my surgery on March 21, 2011. Dr.Pompas, Tijuauna(?spelling) Mexico. She was great, her staff was fantastic and everything went very smoothly. After surgery I hurt quite a bit, had great difficulty getting into a sitting position, but did so that I could go for frequent walks, and then slept the rest of the time. Surgery was monday afternoon, and was released from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Again I found the drain removal to be extremely difficult and painful. (Imagine my surprise at a support meeting a month later when everyone else said that they did not find either the surgery or the drain removal painful). We were released to the hotel adjacent to the hospital for two days. Beautiful room, soft bed with eiderdown comforter, tons of pillows, huge window looking out onto a golf course and cityscape in the background. Lovely!! Had to check in at the hospital each morning for bandages changes and checkup and then spent the rest of the days watching movies (movie channel in room) and going for walks. Felt a lot better with a more comfortable bed. Flew home on Friday but had a very bad flight home. Completely full plane, ended up between two other very heavy men. One fell asleep, but kept moving in his sleep. Ended up hitting me in the stomach several times during the flight. By the time I got back to Canada, I barely got off the flight before the tears started coming. Silly reaction, but I was shaking and my large incision had obviously opened and was bleeding quite a bit. A very nice stewardess immediately grabbed a wheelchair and put me in. She took me through security, grabbed my bags for me (just zoomed through everything)and took me downstairs where I was able to access my pain drugs and take some immediately. In an hour, I was able to get back to my next flight and continue on. (pain drugs really are glorious.) I got back home and my kids and husband were waiting for me. It was wonderful to be home again!!

I noticed by the second day at home that my large incision was pretty badly infected. Went to the doctor. He was a little shocked also. Put me on another set of antibiotics plus the ones from Mexico and said no work for at least another two weeks.

Two weeks are passed. Infection has cleared up, back to work and everything seems to be great. Have lost 16 lbs. Happy with that.

Not so happy anymore. Have been on the dreaded three week stall for 13 days. Not a single change in weight. A little frustrated but kept reading on the forum and know that it is completely normal. See my measurements changing daily. Extremely happy with that.

Stall over at five weeks. Have lost at least a lb a day for the last week and a half. Finished week 6 and half way into week seven and 32 lbs. gone! Reached Onderland on my 6 week anniversary. Thrilled.

So far everything is great. Have had several nsv's already. None of my pants fit. (Pretty much all my shirts do though they are loose). Found the most beautiful little black dress at the thrift store. Only a large size but couldn't resist trying it on. It fit almost exactly, my stomach shows a little more than I would want but that can certainly be handled with the right underthings. Wow! Also found two pairs of jeans a size 13 and a 12 petite. Again just took them in to see where I was, never expecting them to fit. Could put them on all the way, do up the buttons, but I had trouble with the zipper. (nothing that laying on my bed and breathing in wouldn't fix). Yah, I won't be wearing them for at least two weeks but by then at this rate they should fit very nicely.

I have to admit that I stay on my diet completely. Two ounces of protein at each meal. I try to have at least half of those be fish. I drink all my water and maybe more each day. I take two Centrum forte vitamin pills a day and calcium chews (think of them as my little candy treat each day). Others talk a lot about not being hungry but I can't say that I feel the same way. I am often hungry and could easily eat more than the 3-4 hundred calories that we are allowed to eat each day. ( I have a protein shake with coffee each day to try to get in enough protein - almost always get 60 to 65 grams a day.) I have not had a problem eating anything at all. No foamies, no uncomfortable stomach fullness, no problems at all.

So far --- would I do it all again?? Absolutely!! Still very anxious to see where I will be in another month and each month after that. Here's to a new life!! May 3, 2011.
