10/22/2010  I have been considering wls for several years now. There have been several times I have actually met with surgeons only to decide to try to do it the "right way". Fast forward to today. I am at my highest weight of 394lbs, am on disability with CHF and was told by my pcp that I have a small window of opportunity to have surgery or I will be disabled. At 40 years old, I am just too young to be living this life. I have no energy, sleep 11-13 hours a day and become short of breath with the littlest exertion. So, I am ready. I know this is going to change my life and I can see myself being one of those who wonder why I waited. I am excited and now find myself wanting the process to go faster. I did get approved for Medicaid this month and have enrolled in an HMO/ BCBS. My surgeons office does not accept straight medicaid but will take the HMO. I have tried to cut my portion sizes back and have lost 6lbs so far. Activity is difficult with the CHF but I know if I work at it a little at a time I will be ok. This is the beginning of an intense journey and hopefully I will find the support and knowledge to make it through to the other side. :)
