15 Months Post Ops

May 21, 2010

Hi All!  Things have been going really well with me and my weight loss journey. I just posted a new photo today. I'm down to 178 and feeling great. My eating is still very much sugar free and I haven't had any real problems. I'm encouraged about how easy the adjustment to my new life has been. Buying new clothes has been the most fun .... New guy in my life sent me a text today after we met for (Coldstone Sinless Sans Fat) ice cream to tell me I looked hot today... Feels really good...

Hang in there everyone... Sorry it's been so long.

6 Mos Post Op

Aug 02, 2009

Hi all. Things are going very well for me. I've lost 66 pounds and I've celebrated everyone of them. The weight loss is slowing down now but no complaints here. I'm getting a lot of odd looks from people when they ask me if I'm about finished losing and I say that I have a long way to go. I carry my weight very well so most people have no idea that I still weigh 196 pounds. My goal is to have a healthy rated BMI. I'm not sure what that is equal to in pounds but I'm guessing between 140-150.

I'm finally completely out of plus sized clothes. That was a REAL celebration! Of course I'm not able to wear new sizes for very long so I'm set myself a limit of no more than $20 per piece of new clothing. It means buying (non-name) brands that I haven't in a very long time but that's cool. I don't need them to last too long .

Thanks for all the encouragement and best of luck to my fellow losers!

2 Months Post Op

Apr 15, 2009

Hi all. Sorry about being so slow on the updates. I'm now 2 months post op and have grown accustomed to my new way of eating.  I still miss my Cokes but I think about it less often now than before. Protein intake is good and I feel very good. I still hate protein drinks so I'm very good about ensuring that I eat meat 2-3 times a day. My drink of choice is 100% cranberry juice (no sugar added) mixed with water. I've found no foods yet that my new stomach won't tolerate. I've thrown up twice since my surgery but both times was due to eating too fast. I've lost 43 pounds to date! I need to find someone to take a picture that I can post for you all but I keep forgetting.

Keep up the good work and I'll talk to you soon!

One Month Post Surgery

Mar 11, 2009

Hi everyone. I'm doing great and go to the doctor tomorrow for my one month post op visit. I had some problems with excess gas bubbles in the upper part of my esophogus. They did an upper GI to rule out any problems - all was good except for.... esophogitis(sp?) They gave me some meds and I'm doing fine now.  I'm doing well with getting my protein in but still not getting in all the fluids I need. I need another 20 oz each day. But I feel good and I've lost 28 lbs already.

Good luck to everyone and I'll be back soon.

Two Weeks Post Surgery!

Feb 25, 2009

Hi all! Thanks for the wonderful messages.  I'm doing really well. I didn't have any nausia problems after my surgery so the nutritionist advanced me to pureed foods the day after I was released (Thursday). I went back on Wednesday and she put me on soft foods.  Pretty much anything except raw veggies and raw apples.  So far no food issues.  I'm finding it nearly impossible to get in all the protein and fluids. I keep trying.  So far I've lost 22 pounds including the pre op.  I'll post more pics in about a week.  Still have not been able to post the main profile pic.  It keeps telling me the file is too big.

More soon!

2nd day liquid diet pre-op

Feb 06, 2009

The first day of my liquid preop diet went ok. I wasn't hungry but in the evening I began to feel nausiated. I had a caffein withdrawl major headach. Today has been ok so far but tomorrow will be my first day without work as a distraction. Wish me luck!  Surgery in 4 days!
