It's interesting how this surgery came about. I really was skeptical about By pass surgery and didn't think people should have it. I heard a lot of negative things about it.
Most my life I was thin. In Highschool I was popular and homecoming queen. I was size 4 and had alot of boyfriends and friends. I never thought I would have a weight problem.
After getting married, I went on the pill. I immediately seemed to pick up some weight and became a bit 'pudgey'. Getting married seems to add some weight on you, too, as you start cooking and eating all your cooking.
A few years later, I found out I had Endometriosis. This is where I really started having issues. I was in so much pain. I couldn't exercise I was in so much pain all the time. The Doctors put me on a male steroid to supposedly help w/the disease. It didn't. All that happened is that I gained 70 lbs in one summer! From this point on, I had a weight problem and tried every diet on the market. I ended up losing quite a bit once on Dr. Atkins. High protein and low carb was always the only thing I had any success with. I also felt the best when eating this way. But I always gained it all back. I was told I couldn't have children, but the Lord had other ideas. I ended up having two wonderful children, but the weight just kept going up.
By December of 2006, I was at my highest weight of 287. I couldn't stand it any longer! I was very depressed and couldn't seem to proceed in developing the ministry God had called me to because of how I felt about myself and my health.
At a Christian camp where my husband and I volunteer I met a wonderful lady named Pam who shared with me that she had lost over 200 lbs through weight loss surgery. This was the angel the Lord sent to convince me of the need for this surgery.
I started to research and study the surgery and all that went with it. Next thing I knew I was at Barix Clinic having the surgery right after Christmas and there were only two of us there that day having it.

Three Months Pos Op
I am now 3 months post op. I have lost 70 lbs and went from size 4x to size 16 . I had my 3 month labs done and have an appointment with Dr. Kam next week, Thursday. I think I am a bit low on B12.
