Getting There!

Jan 10, 2009

I am so excited! I have been looking at other members profiles and so many were just like me; and they look soooo good now!  That gives me such hope. I just didn't think I could look like that again, but they did, so maybe I can, too.
I am trying to start preparing for this. My daughter is still nursing, so I need to start weaning her. She drank a few sips of a sweet tea bottle today, but she isn't very good at it yet.  She does eat baby food well.  She is also incredibly attached to me, and doesn't want anyone else to hold her. I'm not sure how rough the recovery is, and how it will affect my taking care of her.
After we see Dr. Borland, my husband  is going to set up his vacation time for when the surgery is scheduled. My husband works for some truly wonderful people, and they are also very supportive of WLS. We have two small children and all of our children are at home 24/7, so I figured having my husband home for a week or so after the surgery could be a real help. The kids are great , I have one son who is such an encouragement in weight loss. His name is Timothy and he is into Ultrametabolism. He also works out.  I am so proud of how healthy he has gotten. My oldest son lives with my sister-in-law next door, and I know he will help all that he can. He is having his own personal struggles right now, but he is making it through. Growing up is hard. I don't think he appreciates any motherly advice, definitely not any fatherly advice!  He has a heart of gold, if he can just find his way again.  Our third son Joshua is headed towards some real weight issues, I feel like my surgery is going to be have such a tremendously positive impact on him. I am the one that buys the food that goes into his mouth. What is my problem????
I am researching the pre op and post op diets, I just don't know a lot about all of this yet. I have been checking out protein sources, also. I do feel a lot more confident of the decision to have surgery. My DH is very much in favor of the surgery, and that helps a ton. I watched a short piece of the National Body Challenge and that was further confirmation. Even the Discovery Health "You" doctors say if you have 100 pounds to lose, consider WLS.  It just seems everywhere I turn is "Yes, Surgery, Yes!"
