I got over all that. Almost.

Mar 16, 2015

It was rough, but now I've reached medicare. Have a lovely part time job working in an infectious disease doctor's office, fascinating stuff. Knee replaced January 2014, as soon as Medicare approved it. Wish I'd been able to do it sooner. Life with my gastric bypass has been just that - life.

Got no complaints about that.

Four years out

Dec 08, 2010

Four years - wow! Been mostly good, with some rough spots, but I have no regrets.

Well, maybe one.

I have to pay for my own health insurance and Blue Cross is sucking me dry. If I had stayed at 400-plus pounds, I could have gone for disability and by now I would have Medicare. At my age, finding full time employment is almost impossible, since nobody wants to hire "old" - and nobody wants to pay benefits to anybody. Soon I will living out of a shopping cart under a bridge somewhere - stop by and say hi. But, I can actually walk to and from that bridge, and should the day come that I walk onto to it to jump off, I will be able to do that, too.  Only, I have lots of loose skin and I do tend to float!!

Just goes to show you that nothing is ever perfect.

But come what my, I am so happy  I had the surgery.  This life is waaaay better.

Does talking about it all help?

Sep 16, 2009

I had the surgery. Lost 200 lbs altogether. It was great.

Now I'm stabilized, but still obese. I can't remember what the old weight was like, and feel enormous now.

And I cannot find a pair of pants that fit properly! Most of y weight was in my hips and thghs, so my body is distorted now and I feel bad about it. Silly, I know.

I need some rehab asap.
