My story....pretty much the same as alot of others. I have dieted myself to being morbidly obese. Don't you just love that word ? I was diagnosed as a Type II diabetic in 2001 at Christmas time, what a present. Actually it did force me to take better care of myself. I am on two types of pills and recently added insulin to my regimen. So tired of shots and pills and the diabetes continues to progress.

I thought about WLS two years ago and my Dr talked me into going to a dietician to be on a medically supervised diet. Well it took 9 months to lose 30 pounds and poof it stopped! I also began exercising at Curves 3 days a week . I feel good and lost some inches also but know I still need to lose much more.

In April 2008 I went to a seminar for surgery and I was convinced I would do the Lap Band. After talking to the surgeon and hearing of the possibilties in regards to Diabetes I have decided to go the RNY route. Recieved approval from insurance on 5-21-08 and had my surgery on July 24, 2008.

My surgery was textbook and so far a blessed uneventful recovery is in progress. I feel great and will be happy when my energy levels get better.
