my journey begins.....again

Mar 11, 2013

I had a gastric band done in 2004. 7 years later I had that band removed. It was not that the band didnt work for me, it did what is should have....restricted my intake. But it also was very difficult for me to eat meat, veggies, fruits, and most other things. I dealt with the suffering of sliming and vomiting my food up at least 4 times a week. It became a normal for me. When I got it removed I got it removed for abdominal pain. Dr couldnt figure out why I was having pain or where. But as soon as it was removed I was fine.

Now a year later my insurance has stated if you were insured with them for over 2 yrs...they will consider bariatric surgery. I have had the same insurance for 12 yrs. (united healthcare epo). So my journey started Jan of 2013. I went to the dr...they sent off info to the insurance comp and I got approved in Feb. I decided to hold off on surgery for personal reasons and made it for March 28.

Its now March 11 and I am slowly getting into the mindset of having restriction again. I start my pre-op diet on the 14th but really its not that bad. Its mostly no sugar, meats, or caffine. I can do applesauce, oatmeal, lentils, beans and some other stuff along with the protein drinks. I HATE protein drinks...hated them yrs ago...will hate them again I am sure. I am not really scared right now...but I know whats in store. I dont want to be sick...which i usually am after surgery. I heard some people are sick for a long period of time...maybe because their stomach has been cut out for the most part....who knows....I am hoping I wont be one that is sick. My weight as of today is 211 and I am 5 feet 2 1/2 inches. I think because I have big boobs I am more curvey. Honestly I dont have alot of goals this time. I am hoping for the best. If the weight comes off, then I will do my best to keep it that way. With the band I lost 45 lbs and thats it....kept that off for 6 yrs...hoping the sleeve does more...but I am willing to pitch in a little bit this time.
