I started my journey in April of 2009. I started thinking and learning about WLS many, many years before this, but decided I needed, no I HAD to do this. I went to my PCP and he supported me from the get-go. I was on track to have surgery in the fall of 2009 when wham - I woke up on July 24th was getting dressed at 8:00 in the morning and I got an overwhelming pain in my jaw, then down my arms - I thought what in the heck. The pain slowly eased in my jaw and arms and just a powerful heaviness was in my chest. I thought, no way can I be having a heart attack! After not feeling better within 1/2 hour - I went online to check out symptoms of a heart attack. It talked of how it was different for every women but most got nauseous - well, I wasn't nauseous so I'm not having a heart attack! 5 minutes latter I got sick and had the "foamies". I had my son take me to the emergency room and by noon that day I had a stint placed in one of my arteries!
Due to the plavics I had to wait for one year before I could continue my journey. I'm back on track and hoping to have surgery soon. The paperwork has been submitted and I am more then ready.
