so many appointments
Sep 30, 2014
So yesterday I had filled my day full of appointments. It seemed the easiest thing to do since I am having my rny at Memorial hospital in Savannah Georgia and I live about a hour south of there. I didn't want to have to keep making trips. I had my upper gi which was a barium swallow. The weirdest test ever I would say.then my ekg, then a exercise seminar. Last but surely not least, the nutrition seminar and one on one with the dietitian. I've gained a couple pounds. (Oops. I knew I had. Its been a rough few weeks) she warned me not to gain any more.I started using my fitness pal today. Its going to be rough for me to get into that habit but I'm up for the challenge :)
post surgery consult
Aug 29, 2014
How time goes by so quickly. So, my surgeon had a family emergency on the 1st. We rescheduled my consult for the 22nd. It went so well. Dr. whipple of memorial bariatrics in savannah ga. And his staff are awesome. We decided on the rny.I got a list of reqirement. No 3 month diet. No sleep study. That I am gratefull for, two less thing I don't need to do. The last couple of days have been filled with phone calls and appointments made.I will have most everything on the list done by september 29th. ;) I have a hour drive to my appointments and rely on my sister for the ride. I'm so gratefull for my families love and support for me durring this. As soon as my checklist is done he will schedule my surgery. So ready.

Hello all,
I have had so much going on since I posted last. I thought I would be waiting impatiently counting the days.not so, it went by super quick, and I filled out all my paperwork at the seminar. Met some nice people and learned some things. Well its july 8th only 6 days later and I received a call telling me my insurance (coventry medicare advantage) has been approved! I'm so excited. I asked her many questions about the following steps. She said she would get me set up with all my referals at my appointment on august 1st. Its the initial consultaion. I wonder what all to expect? I am very happy on how my proccess is going. Feeling blessed and have a wonderful support system.any words of wisdom out there?

Its coming up fast, and I'm getting more and more inquisitive over what I will be asked to do before surgery. Tests? Classes? I just don't know, and I am ready for any and everything.

Well I'm back again with some positive news. I have worried myself to death over nothing. I had my pcp appt. On the 2nd. We had a wonderful talk, he was super supportive. He gave me a referral to Dr. Whipple at memorial bariatrics in savannah, ga. They called me this afternoon to go over the process. And I got my appt. Set up for the seminar on july 2. I also confirmed that they have a office here in brunswick, ga that's open the 4th Friday of the month and they Do accept Medicare. For anyone who is looking in southeast georgia.
trying to figure this out.
May 21, 2014
So now that I have made my mind up , I need to figure out how to do this. Last month, I had an appointment with my diabetes specialist. (I have type 2 &I have been seeing her for about 6 years now)She is behind me getting the surgery 100%. (I'm on medicare in georgia by the way)so I have been waiting for my appointment to see my regular doc to see if he is also on board. Now I already called coventry who I get my medicare through.the do not cover bariatric surgery. She said something about the dr. Has to deem it medically neccessary. So I hope I can figure out what ineed to do to make this happen for me. This will be the single most positive thing that I can do for myself to pushme in the right direction for a healthy future. I am hopeful.
