Question:
Burning pain in the muscles above incision

I'm 3 weeks post-op and have a painful burning sensation in the muscles above the incision. It's not constant but hurts mostly when I move from a sitting or lying position, or when I walk. The incision is healed and I had no infections. Also it hurts to the touch (also a burning sensation). Does this sound familiar to anyone else, and if so, should I be concerned? Thanks!    — [Anonymous] (posted on October 15, 2001)

I had this exact same burning pain. It lasted until about the 4th week. When I sat in my recliner I was fine. I kept a pillow under my left arm and left breast. But when I got up and walked around it hurt and burned like crazy. I began walking around supporting my left breast, which helped a bit but I was really only comfortable in my recliner so I had to sit down a lot. I had to sleep on my right side with a large pillow supporting my left arm. I was told by my surgeon that area is where most of the work was done. I've seen many others post about this pain so I think it's pretty common. I recommend you ask your doctor about it just in case it's something else. Good luck.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I am 7 weeks post op today and finally that sensation is a thing of the past [for the most part]. I described it as burning and tearing. That is the site where the intestine is attached to the stomach. that is why it remains sensitive. Time heals all wounds. Hang In There, Baby.
