Question:
Does anyone know anything about bariatric center coming to Chattanooga, TN?

My PCP told me that there will be a bariatric center coming to East Ridge Hospital in Chattanooga,TN in the next few months. Does anyone have any more info or know anything for sure yet? I would like to know when it may be starting up so that I can decide whether to have WLS there or go ahead with plans to have it in Nashville.    — Amy T. (posted on January 29, 2002)

If you are talking about the surgeon in Nashville, that's who I would stick with. I have been researching Dr. Husted thoroughly and find he seems the best-nurses and all. Nothing but rave reviews. Haven't heard anything about a new one elsewhere. Good Luck.

I believe you might be talking about the Bariatric Treatment Center. I believe their main office is in Ypsiliant Michigan. They have several other facilities - Belvidere, Illinois and another in Michigan and one in Texas. You might want to go to their website or try their toll free number 1-800-282-0066. They have a WONDERFUL program for follow up and support. Good luck.

I work in the ER at a hospital in Chattanooga. I have heard that one of our trauma doctors, Dr. Ciraulo, will be doing WLS at East Ridge Hospital. I haven't spoken with him directly about it, but it is the "info" flying around our hospital. He is an absolutely wonderful surgeon who does amazing trauma work. I have no idea what kind, if any, bariatric surgery experience he has. We here in Chattanooga have had to travel to either Nashville or Atlanta for our WLS (I used Dr. Dennis Smith in Marietta) and our extremely happy to be getting a local doctor here in town. Hope this info helps some.

I know this was posted a long time ago, but for the record I have to update this information. Dr. Jack Rutledge in East Ridge, TN performs the lap RNY. He is a laporoscopy specialist and has been for over 10 years. He just recently opened his own practice after studying WLS in Alabama for over a year. His office staff is GREAT. He seems a little soft spoken but he seems really genuine.
