Question:
Has anyone dumped from Amoxicilin (the pink liquid form of Amoxicilin that smells

like bubble gum. I have a bladder infection thanks to the wonderful care at the hospital, and my pcp gave me "the liquid" form of antiobiotic but it smells so sweet I'm scared to take it. Surgeon's office is no help..according to them he's just a surgeon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.    — Raven .. (posted on April 30, 2002)

I have diluted most of my liquid meds, and this helps.

I had lap RNY 3 wks ago. I have tried both liquid Tylenol and liquid Amoxicillin. I think it's better to dilute them and take in small amts. I took the 2tsp of Tylenol elixir all at once. It caused intense stomach pain followed in about 15min. with nausea, sweating and dizzieness. I assume it was my first dumping experience. The same thing happened with the Amoxicillin prescribed by my dentist. You would think I would have learned the first time, but it just didn't register at first how sweet the Amoxicillin was. Be careful!

To the previous posters: Liquid Tylenol has sugar in it and may be causing you to dump (it did to a fellow support group member of mine). It's possible that the Amoxicillin may do the same thing. Talk to your pharmacist to see if there is a sugar-free version of the amoxicillin. I imagine there's gotta be something that they give to diabetics...JR
