Question:
Will this test stretch my new pouch!!

I have to have a Cololoscopy test and need to drink a gallon of Nulytely. Every 10 to 15 minutes I'm to drink 8 ounces till its all gone starting at 6 PM the night before the test. I am 4 months post-op and know my new pouch is only 2 ounces this really scares me because I do not want to stretch my pouch! Can this happened with drinking too much too fast stretch your new stomach? I need to know if anyone else has had this procedure and drunk this large quantity of liquid and if you had any complications or problems? I'm very scared and worry. Thanks    — charanewme (posted on September 18, 2002)

I vote no - it will not stretch the pouch - Call your surgeon's office to ease your mind. Courage - I don't like to think about that stuff but you gotta do what you gotta do.

No, it is the consistency of water- water will not stretch your pouch. It should be healed enough to hanle the water, but make sure you run this whole thing by your surgeon for his advice. BUT, good luck actually accomplishing this!! I can not drink 8 oz every 15 min even at 10 months out!!!

This question always cracks me up. Liquid flows right thru-remember there is a hole thru which liquid/food leaves our pouches! While food does pile up, liquid does not..but good luck drinking 8 oz in 15 minutes. I think for those tests, you just try to drink as much as you can and they realize that not everyone can drink a gallon of liquid.
