Question:
My husband had a consultation scheduled but surgeon is cancelling

because of problems with malpractice insurance. I had this surgery done in april by this surgeon and my husband had finally decided to go for it. His consultation was scheduled for Monday and we got home last night with the message that he is not taking new patients until further notice. My husband is really bummed now, so I am trying to find another lap doctor in the tristate area Missouri, Iowa, ILL. I think I have seen a lap dr. mentioned on here from peoria but not sure. Please let me know if you have any information. RK lap rny 4-9-02 -125lbs — Robin B. (posted on January 11, 2003)

Hi, I know how your feelong. I live in West Virginia, and alot of our physicians are also not treating patients because of malpractice insurance. It was announced this morning that even more will be joining them next week.

Some Dr's have even been charging patients $30.00 cash at the time of the office visit to help pay for the malpractice insurance. And this is not covered by the insurance. And its also not allowed. They supposedly stopped that now. Best of luck to you!. Mary
