Question:
Any precautions I need to take at the dentist now?

Well, I'd been putting off getting a crown until summer, but a broken tooth as I chewed my multi-vitamin (who woulda thought!) has forced me to do it now. I go Monday for the treatment preparation for the crown. Any advice on anything to be careful of, watch out for, etc.? I don't know if my pouch, constant nausea, etc. are things that will make this trickier or not. Advice?? Thanks, Mary Ann    — Mary Ann B. (posted on February 22, 2003)

Nothing specific to the crown, but some general dental advice. I had a LAP RNY on 8/15 and am down 116 lbs. I talked to my dentist last month when I went for a checkup. I explained that from time to time I had some nausea and he recommended that in addition to the Listerine I was using following brushing every day to kill bacteria, that I get a bottle of ACT Floride rinse. He said stomach acid from nausea is hard on the enamel on your teeth. He said if I had an episode where I threw up, to rinse as best I could, but that day use the floride rinse and not eat or drink 30 minutes after. That would give me some protection.
