Question:
Medical Mutual ohio 5 years weight documented

I have Medical Mutual of Ohio HMO and they require 5 years in a row of your weight documented. They are asking me for 1998-2002. I have 98,00,01,02,03. I am missing 1999 and since I am they are going to deny my surgery. Now I have tried to explain to them many times that there is no way that I lost 140 pounds in 1999 and then gained it back the same year but they can't seem to get that in their heads. Has anyone else had a problem with not having 5 years of weight documented and how did you handle it?    — Denise G. (posted on March 6, 2003)

I'm probably just mentioning things you've already thought of, but just in case. Did you have any trips to any doctor in 1999? A visit to the gynocologist, emergency room, urgent care, weight watchers (or other diet plan where they weigh you), health fair at work (we just did that at my work), chiropractor, orthopaedist, etc. I would check with every doctor or facility that you have ever been to and see if they have any records of a visit from you in 1999. What about using something from Jan 2000 or Dec 1998? Otherwise, when you send in your information, I would explain in detail that between whatever the latest date in 1998 and the earliest date in 2000, that there is no way that you lost/gained 140 pounds. Your weight in 2000 shows that even if it were possible to lose that amount of weight, it wasn't a successful weight loss. Sometimes the people that you talk to on the phone don't know how the people who review the documentation look at things. Good Luck.
