Question:
I am taking time released Paxil in the evening daily and I am wondering...,

Since it is time released and I had the WLS, is my body absorbing it? I heard that time released pills are no good for WLS patients and if this is true than I am not getting the full benefits of this drug and perhaps I should tell my doctor to give me non-time release pills. Do you guys agree? Am I losing the full potency of the Paxil since it is time released? Should I request a Paxil medication that is not time released? I want to get the full benefits of this medication and not have to worry about my body not fully absorbing it! Tell me what you think! Hope to get replies! Thanks, Shirley    — Shirley M. In a word (or 2). Who knows. Is it working for you? Do you still have symptoms? Do you feel different on the Paxil as a post than you did as a pre? No one really can tell you how your body is going to act. I take time released stuff and some works, some takes longer to work than it would under normal circumstances but ends up working, and some doesn't work at all. I just pay attention to how I know I'm supposed to feel and if I don't feel better, I know better. But I do give it a couple weeks first.

I've also heard that time release meds would no longer work. My nutritionist said that crushed Paxil tastes nasty. I plan to try liquid when postop.

My surgeon told me that some time-release meds will still work. You just have to figure out which ones between you and your doctor. Good luck!
