Question:
I am losing everywhere but my stomach? Will I have to have a TT?

I am a little over 9 months post op and down 73lbs. I am 5'6" and started at 250 lbs. I am losing everywhere but my stomach. I do 50-100 sit ups a night and run/jog 2 miles 3-4 times a week. All other areas of my body have gotten smaller except for my stomach. I still feel pregnant. Is the only solution a tummy tuck? I was hoping not to have to have another surgery. Any suggestions.    — THE NEW M. (posted on July 26, 2003)

Well, I started out around your height and weight. I, as much as I don't want to, have resigned myself to the fact that this stomach skin will need to be removed surgically. My surgeon and PCP are both already documenting the need in my chart, so I can hopefully get it done next summer.

hi, im a yr post-op and have dropped 107 lbs and 60 inches with 40 lb till goal. the stomach aint moving. i still look so fat in the belly. so yes, a tt is probably the only solution. i could problably wear 3 sizes smaller if my belly would go away. and i know they will take at least 15 lbs from me during the tt. best of luck to ya-amanda mercer

Has your doctor checked you for a hernia? I didn't think my stomach was going down enough either, but the problem was that I had a large hernia, and I had no idea, except for a big stomach. Now that I had hernia repair this month, it has made my stomach look so much smaller, that it is unbelievable. Just a thought. Open RNY, 243/156/140

The stomach is the last place to lose for most people, since its usually the largest area on many of us. I still have flab/skin even though I surpassed my goal weight. It will continually get better for you, especially since you're still losing. But you'r right, the only way may be a TT. And unfortunately, all the sit-ups in the world probably won't help either. If its extra skin, only surgery can take that away. But more weight loss will help you, don't worry! Goodluck to you and great weight loss :-)
