Question:
What could this pain be? Please Help!

I have had these really sharp pains in my stomach since Friday. I thought that I was constipated, so I took some M of M, I have had 2 BM's since then. I have been passing gas, so I really don't think its gas. I am just a couple days over 6 months post op, open rny. The pain is right above my belly button, and it hurts even worse when I eat or drink anything!!!! Any suggestions as to what this could be??    — Stephanie B. (posted on August 17, 2003)

Since you are passing gas and BM it is probably not an obstruction, but if you have a hernia there you may have some bowel that is getting into it - if the area is red, if you develop a fever, or if you stop being able to eat or pass gas/BM, call your doc - otherwise you should make it through until tomorrow morning to call.
