Question:
ANYONE NOT NEED PLASTIC SURGERY AFTER THEY LOST THE WEIGHT THE NEEDED AFTER WLS?

I am reading a lot about plastic surgery and sagging skin, is there anyone out there who didn't require or think that they needed plastic surgery? What are the statistics? What caused you not to need it? I am pre-op and looking ahead.    — Happy Mommy (posted on September 21, 2003)

I lost over 250 pounds in 11 months and am pretty much below my goal weight and pants size. Having always carried my weight below my waist (I always thought that I was part Weeblo), I had assumed that I would need plastics to remove the apron. However, the sagging skin just isn't that bad (although it might preclude my ability to be a Chippendale Dancer); I do have a little hanging skin on my arms and the backs of my legs (around my knees). But, when I look at myself, I am happy with the results so I don't see plastic surgery in my future. The only surgery I am planning on is the removal of my pretty intense vericose veins (they run from my hips to my ankles), but that is more to prevent future circulatory problems than for the cosmetic effects. Good luck to you.

Not me, but I have a cousin that doesn't need plastics. She's about 3 years post op and she does have some wrinkly skin on her abdomen, but nothing actually hangs. She doesn't have anything any worse than any other woman who had two babies. I, on the other hand, will need some work done. It's so hard to predict who will need plastics afterward. There are too many parameters that go into it: genetics, amount of weight lost, how long you were overweight, have you had any kids (for the women!), etc... Good luck.
