Question:
How many Centrum Chewables a day?

I just switched to Centrum chewables from Flintstones (two a day) & wondered if I should take one of these a day or 2. I'm thinking my dietician told me one adult vitamin was all we needed but it's been awhile & I'm not sure.    — Kathy K. (posted on October 15, 2003)

My surgeon's office (Dr. Wittgrove) says 2 adult multivitamins a day. But I'd check with your doctor just to be sure. Take care!!!!

Hi, Kathy: I was told just one adult vitamin a day.

My doc also recommends one multivitamin a day, but we malabsorb (and nobody knows how much, plus, it seems to differ from person to person even when they've had the same surgery). So, I usually take two a day, since I see no downside to doing that with a multivitamin. Over time, your labs will tell.

Two Flinstones is equal to One Centrum chewable. Doubling up can make it harder on your kidneys - but of course, follow your doc's advice.

I am 2 1/2 months post-op and I started Centrum Chewables the day I got home from the hospital, and I take one a day, that is all you need. It has 100% of the daily iron you need.

I take one in the morning, and one right before bed.

If you actually read the whole label on flintstones, 1 flint stone = 1 centrum aproxamately. The childs dose of a flintstones is 1/2 a tablet, the adult is 1 tablet. due to malabsorption my doc recommends 2 of either.

We just talked about this in my support group on Tuesday. If you had a form of WLS that involves a malabsorption (RNY or VBG) then you are recommended to take 2 chewables to ensure that you get the full value needed each day. If you had the lap-band one should be sufficient. Best of luck to you on your journey, ~Lara
