Question:
burning in breast-bone area

I am 14 months post-op and have just developed a pain/burning sensation in my breast-bone area, the same spot where you feel pain from stuck food. I can eat/drink with no problem. Any ideas? Thanks.    — j D. (posted on February 25, 2004)

Hi, I had this same experience (wls 1-22-03) and would sometimes wake up on my stomach with an unbearable pain in my chest and be short of breath. Like you, I have no problems with food. Saw my PCP, who referred me back to my surgeon, who ordered an Upper GI. No results yet. Surgeon looking for GERD. I have never had GERD, and have only had heartburn a handful of times in my life. I think this may be an unknown, but I know the pain. I'll keep you posted on the results of upper GI. Good Luck!
