Question:
Has anyone had their bellybutton pierced after having an abdominoplasty?

A friend of mine had a TT in mid-December. Very soon after, she had her belly button pierced. The only problem she had was that the area is complelely numb so she couldn't feel it coming out. It came half-way out and remained that way for a while so part of the hole healed up. She ended up having to have it re-done. I would recommend just keeping an eye on it.

I have always wanted one, but was always too heavy and now that I am thinner and had my TT im scared to do it b/c of the way my new bellybutton looks and I don't feel like I have a nice looking stomach. I should do it while im numb though if im going to do it :o)

I had mine done at 4 months post TT and love it. It took a while to heal but now its fine. No one sees it as I am alittle old to be showing my belly but i know its there and i like it.

When I saw the question I had to chuckle - at me, not at you! I had an abdominoplasty (very nearly a full belt lipectomy) in January... and now I have NO belly button! I don't miss it, but it still freaks my hubby out a little :) I would agree about the lack of feeling in that area though - after 16 abdominal surgeries, I have NO sensation on my skin between the bottom of my ribcage and the top of my legs. Maybe a blessing if you want a piercing there? :)

Holy Moly....great question!!! I am having TT on June 16th and am dying to get my belly pierced afterwards. I had my belly pierced about 7 years ago (age 19) when I was 185 pounds. It hurt, but I would do it again. Now, that I will hopefully be able to show it off at 128 pounds and then post TT, I can't wait. I told my surgeon to make sure he gave me a good belly button that I could pierce and he said no problem! :)

I had a panniculectomy in Nov 03- and my BB pierced in 2/04. I didn't have any problems, though the piercer thought it was a tad bit challenging!

You can get it done...it can help hide a scar if you have a visible one. The thick scar tissue will make it challenging and an experienced person must do it. I have done several myself because I didn't want anybody messing up my work! (One's on my website I think!) The numbness and scar tissue make the chances of it working it's way out higher. I would NOT re-pierce someobody who rejected it one time before.

Update: I did it! I went last night and got my BB pierced. I could not feel anything, I guess because my stomach feels like a sleepy hand. It is so cute! I still keep looking at it and can't believe after all these years of wanting it that I finally I did it:o) I say go for it if thats what you want. I know I can take it out anytime I want, so im just having fun with it. I also did not let him do it on my scar, I had him go right next to it. Good Luck!
