Question:
Has anyone had any luck this year getting BCBS Health Options to approve surgery?

I had Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. It's a Blue Access PPO. They approved me with no problems. I got a letter of referral from my PCP, completed all the paperwork from my surgeon's office, went to my initial consult, had a psych eval from the psychologist who works alongside with surgeon, sent in the paperwork that the bariatric center told me to send to the insurance company, then waited. I got a letter of approval 6 weeks later. I live in Indiana. Email me if you have questions.

My mom had BCBS Federal PPO. They approved her within days. She also received the letter in the mai. Come to find out they will only pay for the hospital stay. She had to pay for surgeon fee. Each plan may be different. Good Luck

I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinois and so far they are sending me through alot of hoops. I have had my consult, diet evaluation (which i had to pay for out of pocket) and phyic evaluation now they are coming up with all types of things they need. Yet they have not just said I have been denied. I am currently going through the medically supervised weight loss part. First they were saying 6 months now I see 12 months on the letter they sent saying what was required. I am not going to give up. Keep praying and keeping good records. Good Luck. We will soon be Big Losers Too.
