Question:
Am I still too Fat for Plastic Surgery?

Two years post op RNY. I went from 400 to 250 pounds. I have been stuck at this weight for almost 9 months now. I have tried exercise and eating very carefully and my body is just happy right here. My goal was 200 pounds and since I am very tall I think thought that was realistic. I have a ton of hanging skin on my legs, hips and stomache. Enought that it is very difficult to find clothes to fit right and move well. I had thought if I could get down to 220 I would pursue PS. I don't think I will get there. Would a doctor operate on me this big? Or am I destined to be stuck with all this skin becuase I just can't seem to get any smaller?    — Wendyrvp (posted on April 21, 2005)

the only way to really know is go on a few onsults. there are a lot od PS out there and they all have their own ideas. I have seen people have plastics while they are still on the heavy side, and maybe if you lose a lot more you will need a touch up. the skin removal does miracles for your self esteem.

I went into my first consult when I was 220lbs and I had been at that weight for about 8 months no loss and that surgeon said he would work on me as long as my weight was stable because I had a lot of extra skin..and I am tall also. Like the previous poster said, go and see a ps and see what he/she says. I've seen people who are 250 have ps. Goodluck

I had my tummy tuck at 235lbs. I also started at 400lbs. The tummy tuck removed almost 11lbs! I am so happy with the results. My surgeon would like me to lose 50 more pounds, before the breast reduction and other excess skin removal. I was not so happy when I heard this. I felt like this was where my body was meant to be, because I had been at a stable weight for so long. Well I changed my work out and added more cardio. I have lost 10lbs so far! Having the excess skin removed has improved my mobilty so much, and my stomach is flat ;)

I had my tummy tuck at 230 lbs. I had my wls surgery at 378 lbs. The tummy tuck was amazing. I was concerned that they only removed 8 lbs. of skin, but it has made a world of difference. I now stay between 212 and 218 and I am 5'9" tall. I have been trying to get to 200, but it has been a slow battle. I carry most of my remaining weight in my butt and thighs. If your weight has remained constant I would see a plastic surgeon for a consult. I was at 230 for 6 months and the scale would not budge. I was so tired of the rashes from the extra skin that I saw the surgeon and my insurance approved the tummy tuck in 3 weeks. They paid for it all, but $400 hospital co-pay. Good luck to you.

I am just a few days post-op from having an abdominoplasty and butt lift at 235 lbs. While it's still early, I can already tell that I will be a lot more comfortable with my body now that my huge flabby tummy is gone. I definitely think you should start to pursue PS. Good luck. :)
