Question:
Just looking for some help...

This may sound really stupid.. but I don't even know where to start. I don't have a regular family physician to refer me to a doctor. Right now my bmi is at 44.1 and I have tried many things to lose the weight and I've come to the conclusion that this is what I want to do but unsure how to go about even starting this process... Someone help!! All of you know what's it's like to have been/be overweight.. I'm just looking for a little since of direction. Feel free to email me.    — Adrian M. (posted on September 24, 2005)

If your insurance requires a referral then you must start with your primary doctor. If not then call your insurance company and ask them for names of several surgeons that do the Gastric Bypass and make appointments for a consult. You will need a physical from a primary doctor and some pre op testing at some point. Also you could post your city and state on here to see if anyone has a recommendation. Best of luck.
