Question:
I would like to know any one with experience with kaisar in northern ca (bay area)

Hi. I have kaiser and had my gastric bypass in Oct.96. I had no choice of doctors and was sent to Basil Meyerowitz in San Mateo. He does only one procedure, the RNY. He operates out of Kaiser South San Francisco. I had no problem being approved.One thing that I did that was helpful was have all my assorted doctors write letters about my medical conditions and how they are obesity related. I also wrote my own letter, explaining my numerous attempts at wt.loss and how I felt my medical problems were obesity caused.I also put in there my goals from WLS. Hope this helps. Bev.

I am waiting for Kaiser SF approval. In the meantime I have done alot of asking questions. Kaiser does approve WLS and refers only to Basil Meyerowitz in San Mateo. He operates on Kaiser patients l day a week at Kaiser So.SF. He does the RNY w/Fobi pouch. I have not been to see him, however I have talked with his office a few times. Good luck.

I am with Kaiser in Vallejo, CA. I am waiting for approval at this time. My PCP sent the referral to the committee last week and I'll keep you posted on the outcome. It is not easy going through Kaiser as they have really strict guidelines. I would be happy to help you any way I can if only to offer my support.
