Question:
Help, I need ideas!

Hi. I'm in need of some breakfast ideas. I can't do milk so cereal is out of the question. And I can't stand ANY type of protein shakes or the SF instant carnation breakfast. So...I need ideas for a quick, yummy tasting breakfast ideas. Thanks!!!    — [Anonymous] (posted on August 20, 2000)

When I was pre-op, my nurse who was 5 years post op told me, "if its good for dinner why can't it be good for breakfast?" Shake things up a bit! Have some tuna salad or a BLT. Maybe a nice warm cup of soup, gumbo or chowder. If you simply must have traditional breakfast foods try a breakfast burrito. Scrambled eggs, cheese and salsa rolled up in a flour tortilla. I don't do dairy or protein shakes either and since fresh tomatoes from the garden are available I go for the BLT for breakfast these days. All the best, Roseannn 1.5 yrs post RnY, at goal.

My favorite is eggbeaters with salsa. Very high protein. You can even add some FF cottage cheese to it for an even higher protein count...

There are literally hundreds of protein drinks out there that involve no milk. Perhaps you've tried the most popular and you don't have a "popular" tongue? If you don't like "milk shakes", there are now juice type proteins, as well. There are individually bottled ones, which are rather sweet and a new powdered version that is crisp and light and tastes like Crystal Light. There are several choices in fast, instantly absorbed protein vs trying to get enough protein from food, which is difficult to do for any RNY.

when i go to work in the early am, i usally don't feel like breakfast yet,so, i drink carnation hot cocoa, w/ no sugar added. it really satisfies me and hardly any sugar.it also has 4 grams of protein. coffee doesn't taste the same for me anymore. or try brunch around 10 or 11. good luck!

During the week, I'll have a protein shake first thing in the morning and bring a piece of fruit w/ me to work to eat that morning. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who would rather sleep than get up and make breakfast. On weekends, I'll eat regular breakfast stuff. Usually an egg omelette w/ spinach and mushrooms or scrambled eggs w/ healthy choice sausage or turkey bacon.

1) a fruit smoothie in the blender: protein powder, water, ice, blueberries (full of fiber). 2) one scrambled egg with an ounce of colby cheese. 3) a slice of deli ham fried in pam (take little bites). 4) aspartame fruit-flavored yogurt. 5) vanilla edensoy poured over oatmeal with raisins. 6) strawberries. 7) sugar-free butterscotch pudding (I like to chill it the night before).
