Question:
Has anyone used Dr. Dennis Smith for a lap BPD/DS?

After carefully exploring my options, I am considering having BPD/DS surgery. I live in the Chicago area, but it seems that the closest surgeon is Dr. Smith in Georgia. I really want to go lap if I can. Has anyone used Dr. Smith for this specific surgery? What has your experience been?    — Mary N. (posted on September 29, 2000)

Mary, I am using Dr. Smith, but I am going to have a Lap RNY. He is very professional and is part of a practice that specializes in all sorts of Lap surgeries. He is in charge of the WLS portion. He is a rather quiet man, but was very thorough and friendly. We are awaiting an answer from my insurance co. He sent my letter of Medical Necessity about 2 weeks ago. He told me that he has a law firm he works with when ins co's deny claims. He also requires a psychiatric consult and some other tests. His Marietta office is the one I go to, but he also has an office in Woodstock. I will be staying in Kennestone Hospital in Marietta which has a very good reputation.
