Question:
how long does the insurance co. have to review your appeal?

Is there any laws that state that your appeal has to be processed within 2 week...a month..a year? Can they hold you hostage forever waiting to hear?    — Ellen M. (posted on October 14, 2000)

I would call and ask what is the time frame they allow themselves to make the decision. You may also want to check out your insurance policy/book. My insurance company said it can stay in the approval phase for 30 days. I was also told that with the appeals they have 30 days to respond. Good luck. I will say a prayer for you. I know how upsetting it is. The first surgery I ended up being a self pay patient because Cigna specifically excluded surgical weight loss. They approved my revision surgery in 7 days. I am told they are now one of the easiest insurance companies to work with. Take care and God Bless.
