Question:
Please help...I am having massive pain

I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op, I have massive pain when eating or drinking. I throw up everything. I am eating all the correct foods. I called my surgeon and he wants me to go into the ER this evening for another swallow study. What happens if something is blocked? Do I need surgery again? Please help, I am very nervous.    — Dorothy M. (posted on May 5, 2001)

I am still pre-op, and don't claim to know much about the post-op experience; however, it does sound like getting to the ER would be your best bet. Anything that may need correcting can be best addressed by doctors at the hospital. Please write and tell us what the DR says. My prayers are with you.

Hopefully, you've alread gone in, but if not, don't panic. Having the outlet heal too tight is not uncommon. Miserable, but not uncommon. It's like a drawstring that's been pulled to tight. It can usually be opened by endoscopy, which is a small procedure and you miss the whole thing because you are asleep. It's fast and you experience relief immediately. Here's hoping by the time you get home and read this, you are sitting with a glass of water flowing easily down thru your pouch.
