Question:
Can anyone give me a name of a Dr who does Duodenal Switch in Northern VA?
Has anyone in Northern Va had Duodenal Switch surgery? All the doctors I have found in this area seem to only do RNY bypass. I'm still in the research phase and would like to know which would be best for me. If you have had Doudenal Switch done by a Dr in Northern Va or even DC I would like to hear about your experience.Thanks — Barbi B. (posted on August 20, 2001)

Dr. William Marcus, in Silver Spring, Md., which is right outside
Washington, does the duodenal switch. Dr. Vanguri does it in Baltimore,
which isn't too far away to go for something this important. Elariny does
the duodenal switch but is likely to try to persuade you to go for the
sleeve gastrectomy only (the top portion of the BPD/DS--removal of part of
the stomach), which no other surgeon does as a stand-alone operation.

I had my D/S with Dr. Elariny he does the procedure by Lap as opposed to
open, which I think made the recovery time easier. He did a wonderful job
with my surgery. I could not possibly be happier!!! His number is
