Hi Katrina - I have Aetna in TX. I did the 3 month multi disciplicary plan with my internist because I didn't have 6 months of documented history in my file. I followed it to a tee and was approved within a week after my doctor sent in the info to Aetna. Do you have other co-morbidities? diabetes/high BP/Sleep Apnea? I had diabetes/high BP/high lipids. All of which are now gone since losing 91lbs so far. I had surgery 10/6/05. Good luck!

Hi Katrina - Aetna modifies their policy every year and also at the time your company renews..your surgeon knows best what they cover in your state- you also might want to make sure there is no "exclusionary" policy for your employer- MEANING- "WLS is not included in coverage" unless your employer elected to include it as part of their medical plan..That's what I discovered in my talks with Aetna last year. I also had no additional morbidities- light sleep apnea- and arthritis in my knees - I did the 6mos weigh ins- because I did not want to give them a chance to decline- and go that route..Again your surgeon should tell you- becuz they ultimately submit the case documentation for approval... My apnea was gone within the first month and my knees don't hurt when I walk or exercise- since Ive lost 95 lbs! I have Aetna PPO- if that makes a difference - Good luck- Donna
