that isn't dumping syndrome. dumping syndrome is when someone who has RNY eats sugar or fat and it reaches the intestine before it has been digested enough (which it can't be) and then the intestine goes into shock and puts the body into shock, resulting in cramps, sweating, racing heart, and diarrhea. people who have had lap band do not experience this. it sounds like you got a piece of food stuck in the "stoma" which is created by the band. i have had similar experience with RNY where food will get stuck in my stoma (which of course is at the bottom of my pouch). it could be stuck for a few minutes or an hour... i've heard of people being stuck for 4 hours. i usually end up throwing up until whatever is there is gone (this doesn't happen often-- i know i sound like i do this every day-- not at all!). i have heard that papaya enzyme will help dissolve some of the food that is stuck. otherwise you have to wait it out or throw it up. :(

No you don't dump because your plumbing hasn't been rearranged. Only the top portion of the stomach is banded and you still have your whole stomach in tack.

You have something stuck. Follow the basic rules of small bites, chewing well then chew some more. No breads, pasta etc that globup. Keep papaya enzyme on hand. These are chewable & available @ Walmart. It breaks food down to releave the stuck food. Dumping is diarrhea, nausea & possible vomiting from eating sugary foods with bypass patients. Lap-band des not get dumping. Donna Lap-band 4/19/07

I always had these issues when I had the LapBand. That was one of the reasons I had it removed. The best thing is to make yourself throw up.
