Question:
Has anyone who has had lap band surgery experienced hair loss?

I had lapband surgery on 3/19/08 and I have experienced some mild hair loss. I am not pulling out clumps but I do have some. I asked my hair dresser and she gave me a shampoo to use...its called Bioxin or something like that. Its suppose to strengthen the hair follicles. I also asked my nut and she said I am getting enough protein so she is not worried about that. I just started using the shampoo and so far so good.

You really need to go to your physician and have them do blood work. I was experiencing major hair loss and found out that my thyroid was out of sync. He changed my meds and now my hair has stopped falling out and is actually growing back.

I did not lose any hair, however, my very naturally curly hair has gone completely straight. I mean, stick straight. Anyone who hasn't seen me in a while really has a double shock, the weight loss and the straight hair. Really surprising. I have lost some eyelashes though. My hairdresser says she sees this all of the time... changes in texture with massive weight loss and life changes. Protein, protein, protein. Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

Usually after any surhery you will tend to lose hair.....but if you continue to lose then you need to check the amount of protein you are getting......you MUST>>>MUST>>>> get no less than 65 grams a day....and it should be solid protein if possible.....you hair is nothing but protein.....so start checking your protein consumption and once you get that straight....then you will stop losing the hair...Pam / Ft Worth Bandster Bites [email protected]
