Question:
Can you grind up regular Citrcal petites with Vit. D, and disolve it in a drink?
I can' t take the taste of the Bariatric Advantage Lozenges flavors or the Building Blocks. Thank you!! — Kristiemo99 (posted on July 20, 2008)

I use to use a pill crusher for my calcium citrate, in fact I use the same
kind as you're listing. However, you'll need at least 4 of those a day to
get your amount of calcium.....as I believe the citracal petites are only
400 mg each. I was told to get at least 1500mg/day. Maybe you're
requirement is lower. I will say they are tough to dissolve and go down
better using a little unsweetened applesauce. They're also a bit
crunchy...and I was grateful when I could finally swallow them
whole....which was at about 4 months out. Best of luck....Cheryl

Yep...Or just give a few chews and swallow with water or whatever you
drink...Those pills are sooo hard to crush...I can't be bothered and chew
everything a few times if it's not chewable...Or fish oil! YUCK! I'm
finally learning to swallow capsules for my own good! You'd LOVE those

You can actually just drop the Citracal pill into water, it will disolve on
it's own and release the calcium within 15 mintues. It will leave a large
binder at the bottom of the glass ( you don't need to drink that). It has
zero taste, you just have to remember to do it! I think the petities are
only 250 mg or so per pill so you would need to have at least 5 of those
daily (in 500 mg dosings) for maximum absorption

I was told by my surgeon at 7 months out, we just don't absorb the calcium
from pills, they are not in our intestines long enough. And yet it is
almost impossible to find a chewable citrate. So if you find one let me
know. I have cut the petites in half in hopes of getting some of it. I
wouldn't recommend taking anything that big whole at any point. You don't
want to get stuck! Take care and good luck...
