Question:
BLUECARE TENNCARE SURGEONS?

I am having a really hard time finding a surgeon who accepts Bluecare/Tenncare. I prefer Nashville, Chattanooga, Murfreesboro. I am in south-central TN. I saw some posts re BlueCare, but they were dated 2002-2003, and I think some of the surgeons have dropped Bluecare since then. Even when I called BlueCare, they were very friendly, but not very knowledgeable. They listed surgeons, but could not tell me if they were BARIATRIC surgeons or if they performed RNY. If nothing else, did you at least take the names of the surgeons and call them yourself to find out if they perform bariatric surgery? Even if they don't, they might be able to give you the names of someone who does.

Yes, I did call the surgeons provided by Bluecare. Some of them did not perform RNY, and some only accepted Bluecare for adolescents - no adult patients. There was 1 who takes Bluecare but he about 5 1/2 hours away from me, which would be very difficult for pre-op and follow up appointments.

Have you tried Vanderbilt in Nashville or Centennial, not sure if it's considered Nashville or Dickson? My PCP helped me find my doctor, but I also called my insurance and the doctors offices. I would suggest calling around and if they do not do they surgery, most will give you names to help in your search. Good luck.
