Question:
Is one Centrum Silver enough?

My surgeon put me on two Flintstone Chewable Multivitamins a day. He told me upon my last visit that I could switch back to my Centrum Silver when I was able to have general diet. That time has come. Will one Centrum Silver be all I need. I know I must break them in half (they are HUGE!). I was planning to take 1/2 with breakfast and 1/2 dinner. I will be continuing my one iron and B-12 and calcium carbonate. I worry I should be taking calcium citrate instead of the carbonate. What say you? Thanks for the help. My doc says Calcium Citrate, not carbonate or any other form of calcium but I did my own research too. I found that yes, cal/citrate is what we post-ops need (at least in my opinion) Michelle Curran (vitalady.com) has a posting on this same issue. I've been sampling a few cal/citrates and found Twin Lab chewables and Cal-Snack by Country Life work best for me. I still hate taking them, though. Now, as to multivitamins. I still take my Flintstones because I bought a lot pre-op and don't want to toss 'em. My doc says they are fine to take. I take two per day.

My surgeon is picky, picky, picky about post-op care and vitamin intake. She has us take (RNYers) 1 B12, 4 Citracal+D, 2 Iron Forte, and 1 Centrum Silver per day, drink 64 oz of water and eat somewhere between 60-100 g of protein per day.

I take 2 centrum complete every day along with the calcium citrate and other stuff. My doctor believes in 2 of everything one in the morn and one at night.

Our Doctor (Dr. Todd in Anchorage, Alaska) prescribes a prescription pre-natal vitamen that is chewable. It does not taste bad (similar to Flintstone vitamens) and is loaded with good vitamens.

Don't forget to not mix your iron and calcium. They have to be taken separately.A good 4 hrs apart. They don't mix well.

My doctor strongly recommends a multi-vitamin, sub-linginal B-12, B-1, E, A&D, Iron and Calcium. The iron is by prescription (Ferotrinsic) and is taken twice a day. He also recommends TwinLabs brand because they are absorbed better than other brands.
