Question:
I need some good protein source suggestions?

I am 2 weeks post op (gb) and I am really struggling to find a protein that I can tolerate? I have tried Atkins shakes and Beneprotein powder. They both taste horrible! Any suggestions?    — jewels-okla (posted on December 8, 2007)

I went through the forums on here and other sources and read alot of reviews about protein. Alot of them recommended Unjury. I ordered samples and it was the best one that I tried. I would recommed ordering samples from their site ad giving it a try. They shipped quick and I had it in about 2 days. HTH good luck!

I hear a lot of people saying they don't like their protein shakes. Keep trying different brands and flavors and remember that you have to build up a tolerance for them. You NEED the protein. Four of my favorite protein drinks are: 1. ProComplex ( https://www.nicemuscle.com/pro-complex-80611.htm) which is what my surgeon asked me to use. I buy mine at GNC. I like the chocolate with about 6 ounces of water, some ice cubes and 1/3 banana. I mix it in my Magic Bullet http://www.buythebullet.com/ (which, if you don't own, I highly recommend you get one) 2. Nectar http://www.bariatriceating.com/syntraxnectar.html I love all the flavors! 3. New Whey Protein Bullets http://www.bariatriceating.com/conewwhlipr.html I get mine from the Vitamin Shoppe. They also come in a 25g protein in a delicious Blue Raspberry flavor. http://www.affordablesupplements.com/newwhey.asp 4. WorldWide protein http://www.bariatriceating.com/wopuprsh.html I love these ice cold. I also use the chocolate flavor in coffee as a creamer. These I get at Trader Joe's.

I think we all go through that after 2 weeks. I use Any Whey tasteless protein powder. Added to crystal light and teas etc, it alters the taste just slightly and is very tolerable. You can buy it at GNC. You can also add it to hot foods like oatmeal and soups. Good luck, God bless and welcome to the losing side!

My favorite is the Protidiet products, Green tea Cranberry in my 16 oz bottle of water, yummy and get your fluids and protien same time, all of the products are 15 grams of protein each, soups, cappacinos, drinks......all yummy stuff, good luck in finding what works for you.

I am three months post-op and still struggling. I hate protein powder with a passion that is unrealistic in it's nature! lol I like cytosport milk n muscle oatmeal in the morning. It has 30 gms. I also like protein bars, well some of them. The south beach brand has a high protein bar that is 10 gms. I try to eat fish at least once a week and lots of other small portions of real meat to get protein from milk. Good Luck!

The only only one I like is Nectar (Fuzzy Navel flavor). You mix it with water and it tastes like orange juice. It has 90 calories and 21 grams of protein. You can get it on line at SI03.com (tha's s, I as in Indian, zero, three. Good luck, Pat

Any of these are what I use: 1.) Champion ProScore 100 choco + 8 oz water + ice, blended (hand blender or Magic Bullet). 2.) Champion Pure Whey Stack choco + 6-8 oz water, shaken. 3.) IDS vanilla-cinnamon + "glop" of DaVinci sugar free caramel sauce + 8 oz water + ice, blended. 4.) the PWS chco + the van-cin (50/50) in about 10 oz hot water, stirred or hand blender. Lately I've been adding a shake of cinnamon to my hot ones since cinnamon fights belly fat. I always put 1 scoop of UpCal D powder in (500mg calcium citrate, 250 IU of vit D3).

Try IDS brand liquid protein they are three oz. bottles and they are 42 grams of protein each. They come in grape, fruit punch and one other flavor. But to me they taste like strong coolaid. They also have NO sugar NO fat and only 176 calories. You can find them at bodybuilding websites.
