Has anyone gotten their ins. to cover wls even though there is a "contract exclusion"

this might be a good one to speak to a WLS attorney on. If you go on obesityhelp.com and look for WLS attorney, or speak to your own attorney. good luck

Hi Sheila ... I was originally denied surgery due to an exclusion by my company (the BC/BS rep actually sounded sorry!). Upon an appeal of medical necessity by my surgeon (I think an appeal by the surgeon actually holds more weight, no pun intended), I was approved. I don't know what transpired between my doc/ins/company, but I'm glad it worked out .... BUT, this was 2-1/2 years ago and a lot may have changed. Good luck to you ... don't give up.
