Question:
Anyone know of a good liquid protein drink with over 20grams that taste good?

Or is the powder mix better?    — Toby2 (posted on September 25, 2008)

I used Slim Fast Low Carb. It's the blue can, not the original red cans.

I have 2 favorites. the Atkins Royal Dark Choc. has I think 16 or 17 g of protein but it taste like choc pudding, so I don't mind drinking multiples in a day and my other favorite is Muscle Milk in both choc and banana creme. These have 21g of protein.

Hi Nevalle, I have tried many and have found I can drink the ISOPURE-bottles [40g protein] from GNC-many flavors I like apple-melon, also use Essential Natural 100% protein-22-g per scoop, I add to milk, yogart or fresh fruit and ice blend drink. I use Whey protein-choc 1/2 scoop in a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. I have two cups which gives me 28 g protein . My Dr. suggested carnation instant breakfast-sugar free.. I found that most of the pre mix have IODINE in it and I am not able to have that. I have found my tastes have changed since surg, just as everyone has sd. Just keep trying things till you find something you can handle. Best of luck in your new life.

I use the Atkins Advantage Shakes, they come in lots of flavors and they are good. They have about 16-17 grams of protein and they are premix and kept in the refrigerator.

I also like the Isopure Protein drinks - but I add a couple teaspoons of Splenda to each bottle so it doesn't taste so bitter. Everyone's taste buds change after surgery, so what tasted good before doesn't necessarily taste good after! My favorite Isopure drinks are the Alpine Punch and the Orange. I believe there are 7 flavors we can have (don't drink the tea as it has caffeine in it and that will dehydrate you). Good luck!

Worldwide Pure Protein has 35 gms of protein and tastes good. They have Frosty Choc (too sweet for me), Cookies and Cream (perfect) and Strawberry Cream (haven't tried that yet). You can purchase them at The Vitamin Shoppe, if there's one near you, or on line. They are on sale now for $22, a case of 12. If you have one near you, just try one of each, then buy the case. Not sure how long the sale will last.

I have found that the NECTAR brand of protein powder drinks are about the best tasting so far. You mix the powder in 8 oz of water and it mixes great with just a spoon, though I use a small whisk. They have several different flavors, including coffee types, if you are into that thing. They don't taste super sweet and palatable. I order mine from www.enjoyhealth.com, where you can order samples for just $1.89 each plus shipping. You do have to call them to order the samples and the guy that usually answers is a wonderful person, since he and his wife have gone through surgury as well. He is a great listener and does give out some great tips for you.

I use GNC 50 Gram Slams (50 grams in 15 ounces) in Milk Chocolate over ice. I divide the can into 2 servings.

I use and really enjoy the Unjury brand protein drinks. You can order them on line at unjury.com They are great tasting and come in chocolate, vanilla, raspberry sorbet, chicken soup, and unflavored. I've tried them all except the unflavored. If you get the unflavored you have all sorts of mixing options. When mixed with 8oz. of soy or 1% milk you get 26 grams of protein per serving. They are sugar free!!! Customer service is really helpful too for any questions about their product.

I, too, like Unjury products. I found the GNC products to be too sweet for my taste. Mikel Kleess

AchievOne capp or hazelnut (ready to drink) - excellent and taste great! A little expensive and sometimes hard to get. I ordermine from bariatriceating.com or ibariatric.com. Also Unjury has best protein mix for sure.

I like the chocolate Body Fortress Protein Powder. It has 23 grams of protein in one scoop and it tastes pretty good. Mix it with skim milk and one splenda in the magic bullet and let it sit for a second and it tastes yummy!! It is also only about $12 at walmart and target. It comes in Chocolate and Vanilla.

New-Whey protein bullets deliver 42 oz. of protein in only 3 oz. of liquid. And they taste good too!!! Seriously, I've tried EVERYTHING else, and this is the easiest way to get the protein we all need.

I've used Muscle milk with 52gn protein and only drank 1/2 at a time and split it into 2-25 gm doses. It only has 300 cal in the whole can but 150 if you only drink half. EAS advantedge has 15gm and 110 cal, and Adkins high protein has 15 gm with 160cal.the powder I foumd is some kind of professiona whey powder you ad to milk. you cancut this in half to because 1 full serving has 50+ grms so you can cut it in halk too. Thes are the only ones I've found that don't make me gag. They are all at Wal-Mart for less that GNC
