Question:
Pain by rib cage

I am four days post op from having the lap band surgery, I feel a whole lot better now that I dont have as much gas as I did a couple of days ago but now I am having a little pain by my rib cage under my left breast and of course my tummy is tender where the port was placed. Has anyone has the pain or have any suggestions as to how to get rid of it? Thanks, Thomasina    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on October 26, 2008)

I would suggest a check up with your doctor and surgeon to make sure it isn't a post op complication and then follow their advice and your nutritionist diet.

I had my surgery 15 days ago and I found that the pain will last for about 2 weeks you need to walk as much as possible. The more active you are the better you will be. Also you can use GAS X you can buy in at any store. I have also found that when I am hungry it causes me to have discomfort in my chest and left arm. Try to listen to what your body is telling. you

Good afternoon Thomasina, I had my lapband procedure 10/17/08 in Tijuana, Mexico. I too had and still have but not nearly as bad the exact tender areas you speak of. If you have watched the lapband videos on you tube it kinda makes sense because it seems it is more to the left side of your chest that they do a lot more tugging and attaching the band to your stomach. I too have a very tender spot where the largest incision was made. Anyway I sure dont want to discourage checking in with your doctor but I just can relate to the exact areas! Give me a shout anytime. Brenda

I had the same problem and the pain lasted for a few weeks. However, do talk to your surgeon. You don't want to play with your health and he or she are the best qualified to answer this question. Good luck.

I had the same problem. I called my Dr. and was told that it was to be expected because that is the side they work from and they do have to press down hard sometime's. Try a heating pad that worked wonder's for me and it has taken about 4 week's for it to let up, expext when I ten to overdue. Good Luck, GOD BLESS
