I found an excellent multivit at Giant of all places.....it is for "active people." Their chewable calcium w/vit d is good too. They also put out a liquid b12 that must be doing the trick cause my levels came back better than the doctor expected. Alot of the time it goes for buy one and get one free. That makes for 2 bottles for 4.94 for 2 month supply......good luck

If you had gastric bypass, the best (but kind of expensive) vitamin..chewable..is Forvia. You can get it at forvia.com, just make sure it is the chewable. The only other supplement you would have to take would be some chewable calcium because I don't think there is enough of what you need in forvia vitamins, although there is a little....hope this helps...

Sometimes as I read these questions posted by other patients I wonder -- Didn't I (or my insurance company) pay my surgeon big bucks to perform this surgery? If I have a question as to which vitamins I should be taking wouldn't it be in my best interest to ask HIM since he has all my lab results in front of him. Asking general questions like this to other patients who are not medical professionals (or even medical professionals without your chart in fron to them) is of very little value in my opinion. If you want to ask general no medical or support questions that's one thing but to post a question such as "I'm bleeding when I have a bowel movement what should I do?" is nuts -- go to your physician or nearest emergency room. Just my two cents worth.

I am 10 years out from my RNY, I spent a long time researching the field of nutritional supplements before learning enough to make a decsion about a vitamin good enough to put into my "new me." I suggest that you do the same. The supplement industry is full of misleading half truths and remains unregulated to the most extent. A fabulous place to begin your research is with a book by Lyle MacWilliam, MSc, FP titled "Nutrisearch Comparative Guide To Nutritional Supplements." This book will help you learn the truth about vitamins. Most doctors have less than eight weeks of training in the field of nutrition and they rarely know the truth about nutrirional supplements. PLEASE do your due diligence and find out what really works. Make certain that you consume only vitamins that are cellular available for use by your body. Too many over the counter vitamins don't even dissolve before they pass through your system, so how in the world can they help you to maintain your health? Use a pharmacutical grade supplement for your best best at good health. Yes they cost a little more but they are a lot less expensive than constant visits to the doctor. If I can be of further help please let me know. Good Luck, Pamela Ryan going strong and feelin' young!

I agree with Bob. Ask your doctor!! They should have given you suggestions. I know mine gave me a list of recommended vitamins and it was my choice which ones to take. Just because mine work for me, doesn't mean they will work for you.

Rose, Bob is right. We can give you general information - Multi-vitamin, calcium - but the surgeon/doctor is the one who sees your lab work and can advise you on what you need to take. You may be anemic, etc, and need to take additional meds. Call the doctor or check the info you received from him/her.

We don't know what surgery you had and the vitamins are different. Are you asking what kind you can take, like chewable or are you asking us which vitamins you need to stay healthy? Your surgeon should have given you a list of post op vitamins he wants you to take, example, iron, calcium, multi-vitamin, vitamin B12 etc. So with my surgery, I take one multi vitamin Centrum A-Z twice a day, calcium, and women that are menstrating need the iron.......but do ask your doctor. I can only tell you what I take and what are a good choice. They have liquid and chewable vitamins. Please post again and specify what you are asking. Your question can be taken in many different ways. We would be happy to answer what are your choices, but we can't say what you should take. Hope this helps.

So far you've received good advice. When you talk to your doctor, be sure to ask about spray vitamins, since they are available as well, and get absorbed directly into your blood stream through the membranes of your mouth. I wish you well on your journey toward a healthier, slimmer you.
