Question:
I am wondering if all doctors make the opening to the pouch smaller

My friend said her doctor made the opening into her pouch smaller when she had her surgery so she is concerned since mine did not that I might gain my weight back. I am just wondering if many others had the opening made smaller.    — Lani D. (posted on February 19, 2000)

I saw my surgeon yesterday and he told me that my opening would only be about the size of a M&M. That is why you have to make sure your food is chewed very fine, if not it gets backed up and cant fit down that tube and that is one thing that causes the "Dumping"

DEAR LANI, I THOUGHT ALL SURGERYS WERE DONE WITH OPENING SMALLER MINE WAS DONE THAT WAY, IT EVENTUALLY EXPANDS FROM THE SIZE OF YOU LITTLE FINGER TO THE SIZE OF YOUR THUMB WITH TIME.

Hi Lani: I think in order to get an answer to your question we need to know what "made the opening smaller" means. Do you mean the outlet from the stomach? Which procedure? What size is your friend's and what size is yours? Did you have the same procedure?
