help Has any one experience This type of gas
has any one experience this. i keep burping, i can taste some acid from it. it smells so bad. it smells as though i past gas. i was playing with my4 yr old nephew last night. he was sitting on my lap , when i burp. he said,it smelled as though i farted instead of burping. i notice it my self. what could this be. i have regualr bm every day. could something be wrong with me. — yvettetas (posted on December 14, 2007)

sounds like ketosis to me, all of us rny patients get it , and it is a good
thing, means your body is chemically preparing to lose weight...but for the
scientific definition, please look up on line! It comes and goes, but yeah
it is one of the not so pleasant smelling side effects we get! *chuckle*

You are experiencing ketosis, commonly experienced by gastric bypass
patients within the first 1-2 months post-op. You can mask ketosis by
using Beno, Gas-x, or mint-flavored chlorophyll (available at any health

I don't think it is anything life threatening but a great question for your
doctor. It could be from you being in ketosis though ketosis breath tends
to smell fruity / rotten bananas / nail polish remover--- YUM!
Does this happen frequently? It could be related to something you've
eaten.
